This is a nice place for brunch in a convenient Yaletown location.
The restaurant is very sleek and modern with local art throughout. The corner
location brings in a lot of light although it is very much the bar scene in the
evening. We sat outside on the patio in the leather chairs and large table.
Five of us ordered Benny’s and one ordered granola. Everything came out at the
same time and all the Benny’s were hot. One companion thought the goat cheese
was stronger than normal but overall the balance with the mushroom was good.
Another companion had the classic Benny and really liked the smoked ham, as the
regular ham is usually pretty basic. Two of us had the smoked salmon Benny with
avocado. The saltiness of the salmon complimented the ripe, creamy avocado.
Everyone was in agreement that the hollandaise sauce was on the mark and hash
browns were nicely seasoned and crispy. Our sole granola eater liked the
coconut and felt the fruit and yogurt made it a very satisfying dish.
Other menu items include pancakes, frittatas and a few Mexican inspired dishes
such as huevos rancheros. Burgers and a few sandwiches are also available if
eggs aren’t your thing.
Service was prompt and friendly. Water pitchers were replenished and all
requests were accommodated. We looked like quite the motley crew so we
appreciated the fact that we were given separate checks - without even asking.
Nice patio, nice people watching, it was truly a nice brunch! |
