This is a go to place when you want
consistency. The focus is straight forward - breakfast and sandwiches.
The restaurant is charming with red booths and
an Elvis theme throughout. '70s music is playing in the background but not too
loud so you cant hear your companion. The patio is very popular.
My companion had an open-faced fried egg
sandwich with bacon on whole-wheat toast with French fries. Eggs were prepared
as requested, bacon was crisp and the fries were perfect. The Pacific Benny I
ordered had tiny shrimp, fresh asparagus and a light hollandaise sauce. The eggs
were exactly as I like them however; I thought the hollandaise was missing some
butter and lemon. The famous home fries were excellent thinly sliced, skin
on, russet potatoes that were pan-fried. They were golden brown but not crunchy.
There are numerous breakfast choices -
pancakes, granola, omelets etc. Burgers were being ordered left and right when
we were there.
Service was well organized and friendly. There
is a wait everywhere in Vancouver when it comes to brunch. Our host told us the
wait was 15 minutes, which surprised me considering the restaurant was
completely full. 10 minutes later we were seated.
There really are no surprises when it comes to
this restaurant. Fine by me I like a sure thing. |
